Adam Shiverdecker (b. 1980, Arcanum, Ohio) is an artist and educator living in Berkeley, California. He has held multiple artist residencies, including the Archie Bray Foundation, Greenwich House Pottery, and the Tyler School of Art at Temple University. His work has been widely shown, including recent exhibitions at the Museum of Craft and Design in San Francisco, the Everson Museum of Art, the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, the Mindy Solomon Gallery, and the San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art. Adam is currently an Associate Professor of Spatial Art at San José State University.

Absurd Mugs
Most people who move to Silicon Valley for work do so to work in technology; I moved there to teach ceramics. While many of the tech firms here have built their business models around the buzzy ideals of "disruption," I, too, feel a kinship with a model that pushes up against norms and creates new models of looking at the world, or in my case, mugs.
