Steven Kemp

Working with his son Matthew, Steven Kemp has been a potter on Cape Cod for over forty years. His recent love is creating sand-pattern vessels from plaster castings of Cape Cod Bay, then wood-firing them.  In 2015, he completed a commission for downtown Hyannis of an eight-foot stoneware monolith incorporating grooved sand patterns in the vesica picsis shape.

Harry’s need to work hard came out of the crucible of war. He had seen many lives lost. He needed to make his life count, to share his experience and knowledge with others. Harry had no secrets.
