Opportunity: Summer 2018 Internship

Studio Potter invites students and emerging ceramic artists to our internship/professional development program. 

Overview: Participants in the program will working with Studio Potter's editorial and administrative teams in the areas of writing and editing, publication production, print design, web design and programming, digital archive development, marketing and social media management, membership building, and non-profit arts management. In 2018, SP is particularly interested in working with individuals who have special skills and knowlege in the areas of digital media, including video and audio production and editing. 

Location: Western Massachusetts; Studio Potter’s editorial office is located in the Eastworks mill building, Easthampton MA: http://bit.ly/2pnzh0W. Western Massachusetts is not only extremely rich in the arts, and particularly in ceramics. The region has well known historical and contemporary museums, as well as several high-level regional pottery tours. 

Available Periods: Studio Potter accepts letters of interest and applications for internships on a rolling basis, and will work with interested individuals to schedule their time with SP according to both parties’ interests and goals.

Ideal Candidate: Student (undergrad or grad), emerging artist or professional with interest in any or all of the following: writing, pottery, ceramics, crafts, journalism, print or digital publication, graphic design, research, history of pottery/ceramics. SP supports both in-office and remote internships and professional development projects.  Depending on the candidate’s interests, aptitudes and goals, we work with him/her to set up the best plan for development within and contribution to SP and the ceramics community worldwide.

Compensation: Academic credit set up by the student through their university independent study/internship/externship program, and/or a modest stipend for non-students or recent graduates. SP does not provide housing, studio space, or moving expense reimbursement, though ample rental properties and studio sharing opportunities are available in the area. 

Time Commitment: variable, depending on the goals and proposed project; contact us to discuss.
