John Glick Work-Study Scholarship at Penland
As many readers know, renown Michigan potter and long-time SP contributor John Glick died earlier this year. Both NCECA and the American Craft Council have posted lovely remembrances and SP will be publishing a substantial remembrance in the upcoming Summer/Fall issue. We have been working to make John's past articles available publicly on our site, more to come soon.
To honor John, his work, and his role as a mentor to younger potters, including his many assistants at Plum Tree Pottery over the years, his wife, Susie Symons, is working to establish the John Glick Work-Study Scholarship at Penland School of Crafts, Penland, North Carolina. Please read Susie's letter on the Penland website, or download it here, and consider supporting both John's legacy and future potters' careers.
A celebration of John's life will be held THIS SUNDAY, JUNE 10, 2017, 12:30p, at BIRMINGHAM UNITARIAN CHURCH, 38651 WOODWARD AVE., BLOOMFIELD HILLS MI 48304. Contact: (248) 647-2380.
