Apprenticeship in Craft, edited by Gerry Williams, copyright Daniel Clark Books, 1981.
Apprenticeship in Craft
Edited by Gerry Williams
Published in 1981 by Daniel Clark Books (a former subsidiary of Studio Potter) with support from the National Endowment for the arts, Apprenticeship in Craft addresses these three questions about apprenticeship: Can crafts survive the twentieth century? Is apprenticeship relevant today? and, What is a working apprenticeship? Thirty-six contributors to the book address "four stages of apprenticeship: finding, keeping nurturing, and releasing." With funding from an anonymous donor and to underscore the mission of Studio Potter's Grants for Apprenticeship program established in 2019, this book is available as a free, downloadable PDF according to the stages it sets forth.
